digital.engine™
Updated:
May 17, 2005
The digital.engine™ digital mixing system is the digital signal processing
core of a digital Harrison MPC™, ST2™, SeriesTwelve™ or
TVD-SL™ console. The digital.engine™ is the next logical step
in the evolution of Harrison console technology.
The large-scale
digital console architecture of a digital.engine™ powered console integrates
third generation DSP processing and its efficient development systems. Utilizing
the 40-bit SHARC™ DSP chip, the processing power exists to provide:
Available Features of
the digital.engine™ Include:
•
Processing
of up to 768 full channels of audio per core, 1344 inputs and 1344 outputs,
176 console-wide summing busses with full monitoring facilities (16 wide)
and integrated 2240 X 2240 matrix router. This architecture provides dedicated
channel processing, with no shared or allocated resources - a feature economically
feasible only with third generation DSP processing.
•
A
proprietary, PCI-based I/O and communications system provides effective control
of our widely accepted control surface architecture and automation systems.
•
Sub-millisecond
processing and conversion speeds, measured from any input, through the channel
processing system and summing busses to any console output, excluding both
A-D and D-A conversions.
•
The
ability to perform 40-bit Wide Pipe™, 96 KHz processing (256 times the
resolution of 32-bit processing), providing the best digital audio quality
available.
•
Every
channel contains complete dynamics processing, 4-band (8-band with IKIS™)
parametric EQ, high- and low-pass filters, dynamics, 32 aux sends, and panning
facilities supporting all surround formats via 96 main recording busses, 24
(32 IKIS™) reassign buses and 16 listen busses.
The digital.engine
was designed and developed by Harrison to integrate with all existing SeriesTwelve™
and MPC™ control surfaces, allowing each of those systems to be converted
to a digital mixing console. The digital.engine™ may be retrofitted
to existing analog MPC™ and SeriesTwelve™ consoles, and provides
for both analog and digital signal processing solutions for MPC™ and
SeriesTwelve™ consoles.
