IKIS™
- Automation Platform
Updated:
December 6, 2005
The
IKIS™ Automation platform and intuitive control surfaces were designed
to give the mixing engineer's needs top priority. This
is a dual processor, custom configured PCI-based computer used by all Harrison
digital products. IKIS™
provides complete control of all channels, Mix Master busses, and grouping
faders. Visual feedback of the console status to the mixing engineer is comprehensive
and immediate, with the addition of the console's color-coded control switches
and knobs. Graphically rich screens guide the
operator’s every command.
Designed to be intuitive and user friendly, the IKIS™ Automation platform is able to automate every function on every channel. All automation data is stored on the computer as files. Files can be attributed to a particular function area for ease of selection when recalling or saving a particular mix or portion of a mix. Additionally, console setups, libraries, macros and quick keys can be saved in individual files on the main computer or on auxiliary storage medium for later recall and use. Upon recall of a console setting, the entire console reverts instantly to the saved settings. Included in the recall are all channel settings, input selections (Mic A, B, C or Line), dynamics settings (including side chain assignments and side chain EQ settings), EQ settings, pan and level.
The IKIS™
Control Panel with a trackball and a high-resolution TFT display screen provides
the mixing engineer with complete access to the console automation/recall
status. A virtually unlimited number of "Automation Setting" files
are available on-line at any one time. "Automation Setting" files
may be custom-named and are displayed simultaneously on both the control panel
and on the TFT display screen.
In
redundant systems, a second, identical (mirror) computer duplicates all functions.
In the unlikely event a computer should fail, the mirror computer can take
over without reboot.
Adding Harrison’s DTC™ (Digital Tools Card)
provides unique and powerful features. Thirty-two specialized digital bus
limiters per card with “look ahead” intelligence and a 20 second
loop recorder are standard. The DTC™ also becomes the gateway for a
whole suite of DTC™ plug-in software modules. These optional plug-ins
are chainable and interchangeable in the signal path with fully resourced
40-bit Wide Pipe™ floating point processing available for all DTC™
Bus Limiters and plug-ins "at all times".
Plug-ins currently include:
•
Harmonic Notch Filter (Camera Noise Filter)
• Subharmonic
Synthesizer
• Crossover EQ
• Leveled EQ
• Multi-Band Compressor
• Multi-Band Expander
• Telephone Filter
• Linear Phase EQ
• DeEsser
• Insert
